We were in danger of going stir crazy today, so we bundled up to the gills and went out to do some sledding. The little hill in our back yard received a makeover this summer, and is now a very small slope. The kids were frustrated with it, so we set out in search of a hill worthy of our idea of fun. The Jr. High has a great hill that goes down to the soccer field. One tube popped, and even though we were cold, it was loads of fun.

P.S. Don't forget to scroll down to the bottom and pause the music before playing the video.

Too much fun! Way too cold! Where's the cocoa?!

Reflections on the Making of the Krum Kakke

The iron and the finished product. YUMMO!

The making of the Scandanavian krum kakke is a yearly tradition in our family, started by...hmmm...I'm not sure who. But my Mom did it, and her Mom did it, and probably her Mom did it, too. One of them must have decided that these particular cookies were for Holidays only. They are not the easiest cookies to make as they require a special iron ,made of cast iron , and, preferably, an antique. The new irons, we have found, just do not work the same. These cookies can only be made one at a time, and they must be rolled while hot. Maybe that is why they are only made for Christmas. My kids say that it isn't really Christmas without these delicious cookies.

Christmas

So, I finally got the Christmas pictures off my camera. Better late than never. The kids each got an mp3 player in their stocking this year. They were so happy with it that they sat on the steps listening to it for a good half hour.

Let It Snow!!

It is so cold here in Maine lately! It has been well below zero for several days. In times like these, I can't help but wish for more snow. After all, you have to realize that Spring is definitely not coming any time soon, and when it snows, the weather seems to warm up a little bit, so why not. Some of my friends and I have been joking about global warming. If there is any truth to it at all, I wish my part of the globe would be a part of it! Since there probably is no chance that this will happen, at least give me some more snow! Maybe it will insulate us a bit.
